Today is my stop during the blog tour for Stripped Down (Stripped #2) by Emma Hart. I’ll share my review of the book, an excerpt and some teasers of the book.

Title: Stripped Down
Author: Emma Hart
Series: Stripped #2
Rating: 4.5 stars
Genres: Romance

What do you get when you mix a bottle of tequila, a single mom moonlighting as a stripper, and her sinfully sexy boss with an impulsive side?
Married. You get married.

Rich. Demanding. Hot. Crazy.
That was Beckett Cruz in a nutshell.
Not to mention wild, determined, dangerous, and forbidden.
He was my bossโ€”and, after a drunken moment of insanity, my new husband.
An annulment was impossible… so was keeping him.
I was taking my daughter and leaving, determined to give her a quieter life.
But Beckett Cruz had never taken no for an answer.
And he wasn’t about to take mine.

What happens in Vegas… might just keep you there.

My Review:
Another scintillating, panty-melting read from the extremely talented Emma Hart.

Stripped Down had a lot to live up to after the masterpiece that was Stripped Bare, but thankfully it met my expectations.

Cassie was abandoned by her heartless boyfriend when she fell pregnant at 16. Her daughter is now 6, and she has done her utmost to raise her with love and kindness, largely on her own. She has very supportive parents who have helped her out, but now her dad is ill and she needs to step up and help them out.

If you have read book one you know that Cassie and Beck got married at the end. This book starts off explaining how that happened. It did gloss over some of the details but that’s only because both of them were so wasted they actually couldn’t remember the specifics which led to them getting hitched. As you do!

Instead of getting divorced, they end up genuinely falling for one another and it was sweet and sexy in equal measure. Cassie has a hard time trusting any man after her past, but gradually she learns to open up to Beck. I adored the interaction between Beck and Ciara, and the scene where she questioned him if he was going to be her new dad nearly tore my heart right out of my chest. Seriously, well written.

Beck had a tough job trying to convince Cassie to give him a shot, but it was also a new departure for him too. He’s known as being a total playa, so committing himself to one woman was as scary for him as it was for Cassie to rely on a male.

Emma is a fantastic writer and the words always glide effortlessly over the pages of my Kindle. And, boy, does she know how to write steamy sex.

My only complaint is that this all took place in the space of two weeks which was totally not credible, but I pushed logic aside and just allowed myself to be entertained.

If you want a fun, heartrending story with depth, interesting characters, great writing and steamy romance, then this is the book for you.

Enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks to the author and Inkslinger PR for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars.

โ€œBeck?โ€ I managed to get his name out just before he opened the front door.
โ€œYeah?โ€ He spun back to face me, his dark eyes unreadable.
I turned my face to the side so I could see him fully. โ€œYou don’t have to go,โ€ I said softly. โ€œYou can stay. Only if you want to though.โ€
He rubbed his hand down his face, his eyes never leaving mine, then walked back into the kitchen toward me. I stood up away from the fridge as he stopped right next to me.
Slowly, he touched his hand to my face, his fingertips teasing my hairline. His dark gaze searched mine, and my heart jumped into my throat as the usual tingles his touch sparked danced down my neck. Then, he slid his hand into my hair, allowing the blonde strands to fall away from his fingertips.
โ€œDo I want to go home to my big-ass house with its cold emptiness?โ€ he asked in a low voice. โ€œOr go to the club where half the girls there still see me as a mountain to be conquered? Not particularly, Blondie. I’d rather stay here. Even if there will be a demand for movies and water and foot rubs from a tiny, sick person.โ€
โ€œYou can.โ€ My voice was quiet, like his. Even if my internal screams from self-preservation and vulnerability were deafeningly loud as they told me I was a fool, that he had to go, that this would never be enough for him.
โ€œDo you want me to?โ€ His question was… honest.
Like he didn’t want me to answer.
โ€œDo I want you to stay here in my tiny house so my daughter can fall more in love with you than she already is? Not really. But…โ€ Don’t be a fool, Cassie. Don’t admit you want him to stay. He’s just going to hurt you. โ€œI don’t exactly want you to go either.โ€
โ€œFor her, or for you?โ€
โ€œI don’t want to answer that question.โ€
โ€œIf I kissed you right now, would you ram your knee into my cock?โ€
โ€œI’d briefly consider it, but I probably wouldn’t do it.โ€
His lips twitched to the side. โ€œYou just answered the question.โ€
Then, of course, he cupped the back of my head, and he kissed me. It was slow, sweet, gentle. And I didn’t consider kneeing him in the balls for a single second.
Beck pulled back and trailed his hand down my arm before he finally let me go. โ€œI’m going home to get changed and then come back. Do you need anything while I’m gone? For CiCi? You?โ€
โ€œI don’t…โ€ I sighed and chewed back my pride. โ€œI meant to go to the store today after work to get some stuff like bread, milk… important stuff. But now I can’t.โ€
โ€œI can get it. Just tell me what you need.โ€
I bit the inside of my lip, then nodded. โ€œOkay. Let me write it down.โ€ I walked through into the front room with him hot on my heels and grabbed the notebook and pen from under the coffee table. A few things were already scrawled down, so I added a couple more things, including more medicine. I tore the sheet off the notebook, stood, then gave it to Beck. โ€œLet me get my wallet.โ€
He grabbed my wrist, stopping me. โ€œI’m not taking your money.โ€
I lifted my gaze to his. โ€œYou can’t pay for my groceries.โ€
โ€œI can and I will.โ€
โ€œYou can’t and you won’t.โ€
โ€œI can and I will.โ€
โ€œYou can’t and you won’t.โ€
โ€œI can do this all day, baby. I’m stubborn as fuck.โ€ His eyes told me he wasn’t lying. โ€œAnd we all know I’m a brat about the word no. So, I can, I will, and I’m going to. If I can’t help you by buying a measly eight items, I’m an asshole who shouldn’t be allowed around other people.โ€
โ€œYou can’t buy my groceries,โ€ I repeated. It was a lame argument. I was going to lose, but I’d fight until I went down.
Beck’s eyes twinkled as he leaned in. โ€œDon’t worry. If you really want to pay me back, I’ll take a blow job. I imagine your lips around my cock will be a pretty good thank you.โ€
My jaw dropped as he backed off with a wink.
โ€œMouth open already, Cassie? Enthusiasm. I like that.โ€
I snapped my jaw shut and glared at him. โ€œYou’re a dirty pig.โ€
โ€œI know. But I’ve got fifty bucks that says you’ll be sucking my dick by bedtime. If you don’t agree…โ€ He shrugged one shoulder, his lips curved in that dangerous smirk.
โ€œIf you’re lucky, I’ll bite it.โ€
โ€œI’ll take that as I’m in for a good time.โ€
One more wink, complete with expanding grin, and he was gone.
Motherfucking asshole.
