From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

Growing up, the three of us were friends.
He was the nerd.
I was the playboy.
She was the beauty.

Deep down, I only ever wanted her. I kept it inside because Rory and I made a pact that our friend, Amber, was off-limits.

He lied.

I went off to college, and he got the girl.
Amber never knew how I felt.
They were together for yearsโ€”before he broke her heart.

Through it all and across the miles, she and I casually stayed in touch.
When my job sent me to Boston for a three-month contract position, Amber let me stay in her spare room.

Still reeling from her breakup, sheโ€™d sworn off men.
One night, I opened her computer to find the shock of my life. Sheโ€™d hesitantly contacted a male escort company. Afraid to date and get her heart broken again, she was looking for sex with no strings.
Every emotion imaginable ran through me: protectiveness, jealousyโ€”curiosity.
Amber had chosen Gentleman Number Nine and sent him a message.
She opened up to him, confessing, among other things, her physical attraction to her friendโ€”me. But she considered me off-limitsโ€”and she thought I was a manwhore. (Ironic, considering the circumstances.)

Eventually, she set up a date to meet Gentleman Nine at a hotel.
When she showed up several nights later to meet him, she was stunned to see me standing thereโ€”with an offer I hoped she wouldnโ€™t refuse.

My Review:
Before reading:
OMG, I need this like I need oxygen. Literally dying to read this one – it sounds as if Pen wrote this book specifically for me. CANNOT WAIT. And I wish it was available to preorder because I want to devour it the instant it releases, lol.

After reading:
I floved this book, and I devoured it in one sitting. Channing is TO DIE FOR. Swoon city, seriously. He was an original, refreshing, well-developed character and it didn’t hurt that I kept imagining that cover model the whole way through. How hot is that guy? I want to blow up that cover, stick it on my wall, and just lick his face. Yum. Yum. (Seriously hope my husband doesn’t read this review.)

Amber was wonderful too, and the banter and chemistry between our couple was electric. I was so shipping them! Hard!

The pacing was perfect and the writing was sublime, as I’ve come to expect from Penelope.

I love a good friends-to-lovers romance, and throw in a bit of a love triangle, and I am completely sold. I had a feeling from the blurb that I was going to love this book, and I was right! I cannot fault a single thing. It was perfection on a page from start to finish.

In summary, this is another swoon-worthy, page-turning masterpiece from the wonderful Ms. Ward. I cannot recommend this book more highly!

  1. You’re review made me giggle (the bit about the cover guy) my thoughts exactly!
I think I need to check this read out. Anything you give 5 stars generally goes on my kindle shopping list! ๐Ÿ˜„

    1. Lol, he is seriously gorgeous, and I challenge anyone to read this book and not picture him as Channing. And I think you’ll love it! I can also recommend Sins of Sevin by the same author – that book totally blew me away. I know you enjoy forbidden romance so I think you’ll like that one too!
