by Siobhan Davis
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age category: Upper Young Adult
Release Date: January 9, 2017

Two fractured hearts and a forbidden love they can’t deny.

You shouldn’t want what you can’t have…

Faye Donovan has lost everything. After her parent’s tragic death, she’s whisked away from her home in Ireland when an unknown uncle surfaces as her new guardian.

Dropped smack-dab into the All-American dream, Faye should feel grateful. Except living with her wealthy uncle, his fashion-empire-owning wife, and their seven screwed-up sons is quickly turning into a nightmare—especially when certain inappropriate feelings arise.

Kyler Kennedy makes her head hurt and her heart race, but he’s her cousin.

He’s off limits.

And he’s not exactly welcoming—Kyler is ignorant, moody, and downright cruel at times—but Faye sees behind the mask he wears, recognizing a kindred spirit.

Kyler has sworn off girls, yet Faye gets under his skin. The more he pushes her away, the more he’s drawn to her, but acting on those feelings risks a crap-ton of prejudice, and any whiff of scandal could damage the precious Kennedy brand.

Concealing their feelings seems like the only choice.

Title: Mack Daddy
Author: Penelope Ward
Series: standalone
Genres: Contemporary Romance

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.

They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?

So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.

Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy.

I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.

They didn’t know about our past.

He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.

Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

Author’s note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

Cover Reveal: Stay (Bleeding Stars #5) by A.L. Jackson

Today is the cover reveal for Stay (Bleeding Stars #5) by A.L. Jackson. I am excited to share this cover with you today and I already have this book on my to-read list. In this post there’s a short excerpt, a teaser of the book and a giveaway.

StayTitle: Stay
Author: A.L. Jackson
Series: Bleeding Stars #5

From NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson comes the next sexy, gripping Bleeding Stars Stand-Alone Novel…

I’m Ash Evans.
The life of the party.
Hot. Rich. Charismatic.
A tattooed rock star with the world at my feet.
I burn through women faster than the strike of a match.

I’ve embraced my lifestyle and live it to the fullest.
Until the day my lifestyle caught up to me.

Willow Langston found me at my lowest.
Facedown in a puddle of my own blood.

I owe her my life and I have three months to repay that debt.
What I never should have done was touch her. Kiss her. Take her to my bed.

Love wasn’t supposed to be a part of the equation.
I gave up that nasty complication a long damned time ago.
Now I want her more than my next breath.
But she doesn’t know what I know.

Do I leave to protect her? Or can I face my demons and ask her to Stay?

Her lips parted, and her expression churned in confusion.
Lust. Need. Want. Fear.
All of them played out across her delicate features.
I shouldn’t have. I knew I shouldn’t. But there was nothing I could do to stop myself.
Always, always in the moment.
That was me.
I pressed her harder against the wall, my straining cock eager against her jean-clad pussy.
Desperate for friction.
Anxious for relief.
Everything sparked, and I could have sworn the room spun, the ground shifting below our feet.
She gasped out in surprise, eyes so damned wide. Her nails pricked where they dug into the flesh of my shoulders.
Hanging on.
What was this girl doing to me?
I leaned down, my mouth close to her ear. My voice came on a rough murmur. “Do you want me?”

Review: Sinfully Mine (Lessons with the Dom #2) by Kendall Ryan

Sinfully MineTitle: Sinfully Mine
Author: Kendall Ryan
Series: Lessons with the Dom #2
Rating: 5 stars
Genres: Erotic Contemporary Romance

She was forbidden.

I didn’t care.

As my best friend’s little sister, Macey Hale was off-limits, but the girl was tempting as sin and forbidden as fuck. I wish I could say that stopped me. I wish I could tell you I behaved like a gentleman.

I didn’t.

When she waltzes back into my life with that same spark I fell for, looking every bit the beautiful woman I knew she’d grow into, I have to force myself to remember I’m different from the man she once knew. I’m colder. Harder. And for good reason.
With my heart on lockdown and my hands aching to touch her, I set out to prove that I can keep myself in check this time.

No strings. No attachments.

And definitely no falling for her again.

If you love steamy romance, you won’t want to miss this older brother’s best friend romance.

This is book two in the Lessons with the Dom series, following The Gentleman Mentor. Both are complete standalone novels featuring sexy Dominant men you’re sure to fall in love with. Enjoy!

My Review:
This is the fourth Kendall Ryan book that I’ve read, and though I’ve enjoyed the others, this was easily my fav. I had just finished an ARC of Slow and Steady by the same author and she included two samples in the back of the book. Read the first three chapters of Sinfully Mine and I was intrigued by Reese and Macey and the promise of a brother’s best friend forbidden romance. So, I one-clicked.

I was hoping this wouldn’t be one of those books where the erotic sex prevailed over plot and characters. Thankfully, it was the complete opposite and like a breath of fresh air. Yes, there is BDSM but it is more in the background. I loved the emotional complexity between our couple, and both characters were expertly crafted. The journey back into each other’s arms was filled with plenty of angsty torturous moments as they struggled to relinquish their vulnerability and let each other back in.

The writing was great and the book flowed smoothly. My only complaint is it was too short. Read it cover to cover in 2.5 hours. I would have liked a little bit more, but only because I enjoyed the characters and the story so much.

Highly Recommended.

Release Day Blitz: The Pawn (Endgame #1) by Skye Warren

Today is my stop during the release day blitz for The Pawn (Endgame #1) by Skye Warren. I’ll review the book today and there are some teasers, an excerpt and a giveaway!

the-pawnTitle: The Pawn
Author: by Skye Warren
Series: Endgame #1
Rating: 4 stars
Genres: Contemporary Romance

The price of survival…

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl’s college to take care of the only family I have left.

There’s one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value.

My virginity.

A forbidden auction…

Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he’s the only kindness in a brutal underworld.
Except he’s playing a deeper game than I know. Every move brings us together, every secret rips us apart. And when the final piece is played, only one of us can be left standing.

THE PAWN is a full-length contemporary novel from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren about revenge and seduction in the game of love.

My Review:
This one should come with a health warning: Dark and dangerously seductive and highly addictive from the get-go.

Avery has been sheltered her entire life by her over-protective father and her social-climbing fiance. She has lived like a modern-day princess, not wanting for a thing. However, everything comes crashing down around her when her father is accused of fraud and later beaten to within an inch of death. Avery has to step up and look after him while trying to keep the roof over them and cover his medical bills.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and she reaches out to a notorious gangster looking for a loan. There she meets the manipulative, secretive Gabriel and suddenly she is signing up to sell her virginity to the highest bidder.

The first half of this book was exceptional – suspenseful and slow-building and it had me on the edge of my seat. Those scenes at the auction were incredibly well written. I had butterflies in my chest and a nasty taste in my mouth and I actually had to look away from my kindle a few times because it was so awful to read. I felt her pain, her humiliation and her desperation to try and cling onto herself.

The second half felt rushed to me and I wish it had been fleshed out more so I could feel the connection between Gabriel and Avery. I still don’t understand how she could have feelings for the man that has orchestrated her demise, and, while I did catch glimpses of the man he is underneath, I can’t forgive the cold, callous way he treated her at the end. To be fair, it’s obvious he hates himself for what he has set in motion, but still.

I suspect there are other players in this and that Gabriel himself has been set up, but I could be barking up the wrong tree. I suspect creepy Uncle Landon of having a hand in this, and I’m so intrigued to find out where it’s heading. I hope in the next book that Avery really mans up and fights back because she was a little too weak at times in this one. I want her to kick butt next time and really go all out to seek vengeance.

The sex scenes were hot and well written and I enjoyed this author’s writing style. I also adore the underworld vibes and hope she explores this further as the series progresses. While this isn’t a new story (I’ve read similar like it) it manages to remain authentic and it comfortably stands on its own, largely because it’s well executed and the characters are decently developed.

I really look forward to continuing this series especially as that cliffy has left me dangling one-handed off the ledge.

Thanks to the author and Inkslinger PR for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A sense of familiarity fills the space between us even though I know we haven’t met. This man is a stranger, but he looks at me as if he wants to know me. He looks at me as if he already does. There’s an intensity to his eyes when they sweep over my face, as firm and as telling as a touch.
“I need…” A thud against my ribs as I think about all the things I need—a rewind button. One person in the city who doesn’t hate me by name alone. “I need a loan.”
He gives me a slow perusal, from the nervous slide of my tongue along my lips to the high neckline of my dress. I tried to dress professionally—a black cowl-necked sweater and pencil skirt. His strange amber gaze unbuttons my coat, pulls away the expensive cotton, tears off the cotton fabric of my bra and panties. He sees right through me, and I shiver as a ripple of awareness runs over my skin.
I’ve met a million men in my life. Shaken hands. Smiled. I’ve never felt as seen through as I do right now. Never felt like someone has turned me inside out, every dark secret exposed to the harsh light. He sees my weaknesses, and from the cruel set of his mouth, he likes them.
His lids lower. “And what do you have for collateral?”
Nothing except my word. That wouldn’t be worth anything if he knew my name. I swallow past the lump in my throat. “I don’t know.”
He takes a step forward, and suddenly I’m crowded against the brick wall beside the door, his large body blocking out the warm light from inside. He feels like a furnace in front me, the heat of him in sharp contrast to the cold brick at my back. “What’s your name, girl?”
The word girl is a slap in the face. I force myself not to flinch, but it’s hard. Everything about him overwhelms me—his size, his low voice. “I’ll tell Mr. Scott my name.”
In the shadowed space between us, his smile spreads, white and taunting. The pleasure that lights his strange yellow eyes is almost sensual, as if I caressed him. “You’ll have to get past me.”
My heart thuds. He likes that I’m challenging him, and God, that’s even worse. What if I’ve already failed? I’m free-falling, tumbling, turning over without a single hope to anchor me. Where will I go if he turns me away? What will happen to my father?
“Let me go,” I whisper, but my hope fades fast.
His eyes flash with warning. “Little Avery James, all grown up.”
A small gasp resounds in the space between us. He already knows my name. That means he knows who my father is. He knows what he’s done. Denials rush to my throat, pleas for understanding. The hard set of his eyes, the broad strength of his shoulders tells me I won’t find any mercy here.

Dani’s survived a lot of sh*t storms.

Her mother died. Her two sisters loathed her. One aunt hated her. The other was strangely distant, but the worst storm—being dumped by her childhood best friend/high school boyfriend/first love for her younger sister.

There went the one person who was hers and with that, the main reason she stuck around. So, she left for ten years. But now she’s back, and nothing’s the same.

With help from Jonah Bannon, a reformed—kind of—bad boy she remembers from high school, Dani uncovers family secrets that have spanned generations. And along with those, she’s about to face the biggest sh*t storm of her life.

Only this time, she may not survive.

“Why’d you push me earlier?”
“It’s not important.”
But it was. She felt it in her chest. It was so important, and she needed him to say it again. She was salivating for the chance. She wanted to reassure him, and this time she felt it in her heart. She knew she wasn’t going anywhere. She wanted him to see it in her eyes, that she meant every single word.
She whispered now, “Ask me. Ask me again.”
His eyes met hers, narrowing slightly. He was looking into her, reading her.
She was letting him. There was no wall, no hesitation this time. She wanted him to know her, not just her body. All of her. A second passed. He was still searching in her. Another second. More. He waited a full thirty before asking, his voice so soft and tender, “What would you do if you found out another person cared about you? If you mattered to one more person?”
“Nothing.” She was trying to convey her feelings through her eyes. She wanted him to know so badly. “I wouldn’t run. I wouldn’t walk. I wouldn’t hide. I’d do nothing except stand and embrace it.”
His eyes darkened, an emotion passed in them, one that had her heart beating so fast again. “Yeah?” He let go of her hand, but touched the side of her face. He held her in the palm of his hand, and his thumb rubbed over her cheek. It was like he was smoothing away any lingering worries she might have. “What if I was that person?”
She leaned toward him, her eyes going from his lips back to his gaze. Both were pulling her in, making her yearn for more. “Then I’d say, I feel the same.” Her breath held in her throat. They were talking in code, but it was out now. She was telling him how she felt, and a second later, his lips were on hers.
This. She turned, wound her arms around his neck. This was everything.

Review: Too Wild to Tame (Romancing the Clarksons #2) by Tessa Bailey

too-wild-to-tameTitle: Too Wild to Tame
Author: Tessa Bailey
Series: Romancing the Clarksons #2
Rating: 4 stars
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Sometimes you just can’t resist playing with fire . . .

By day, Aaron Clarkson suits up, shakes hands, and acts the perfect gentleman. But at night, behind bedroom doors, the tie comes off and the real Aaron comes out to play. Mixing business with pleasure got him fired, so Aaron knows that if he wants to work for the country’s most powerful senator, he’ll have to keep his eye on the prize. That’s easier said than done when he meets the senator’s daughter, who’s wild, gorgeous, and 100 percent trouble.

Grace Pendleton is the black sheep of her conservative family. Yet while Aaron’s presence reminds her of a past she’d rather forget, something in his eyes keeps drawing her in. Maybe it’s the way his voice turns her molten. Or maybe it’s because deep down inside, the ultra-smooth, polished Aaron Clarkson might be more than even Grace can handle . . .

My Review:
Another fiery, funny, heart-warming story of family, friendship, and love that has all the feels.

The Clarkson’s beloved mother has passed on and she left a journal/letter asking them to go on a road trip to honor her memory. Except, it’s much more than that. Miriam realized her children were all struggling in their own ways, that they were distant from one another, and they desperately needed an excuse to bond and find their path in life. So, she’s stepped in from the grave. Gotta love a ghostly meddling mother!

In the first book in this great series, Rita finds her path and her soulmate, so in this instalment, we have three Clarksons remaining – Aaron, Belmont, and Peggy. Peggy’s friend Sage (and somewhat love interest for Belmont) is still along for the ride.

I was really excited to read this book after enjoying book one and already harboring a secret crush on Aaron. Aaron is the blunt, emotionless, practical organizer of the bunch. He enjoys playing that role but feels unfulfilled. He is trying to get his political career back on track so he asks his siblings to detour to Iowa so he can try and wangle a new position with a presidential candidate.

This is how he ends up crossing paths with Grace Pendleton – said candidate’s vivacious and spunky daughter. Grace has a hidden past, and her parents manipulate her, deliberately keeping her in the background, and trying to force her to comply by deploying devious underhanded methods. It made me sick how her father was prepared to throw her to the wolves to further his own political career.

Aaron and Grace are kindred spirits and they quickly form a bond, helped along by the explosive chemistry they share. They just get each other and I loved watching their relationship develop. It’s quite angsty and dramatic and involves lots of toing and froing, but that’s one of my fav relationship tropes.

Although this is a light-hearted read, there are some powerful messages in the story all the same. One of the things that really resonated with me, is how one off-hand comment from a parent can shape a child’s life. Aaron is fixated on something his dad said to him one time, and it is how he has measured himself his whole life. It’s damaged his relationship with his siblings, most notably Belmont, and has sabotaged any chance of finding true love. As a parent, that has really made me stop and think long and hard about the level of responsibility I have towards my own children in that regard. How every little thing I say, whether it seems flippant or irrelevant, may be construed by my children. It makes me want to be more cautious of what I say and how I say it, because if I was Aaron’s dad and I knew how that one remark, that one situation, would derail his future, I’d want a time machine to go back and do it all over completely differently. I like books that make me think introspectively, and this one gets extra bonus points for that.

The writing is fab, pace is perfect, and the character development was great.

Overall this was a great read. I love the premise of this series and I look forward to reading Peggy’s story next.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
