Hard core fucking.

It’s not what I really want, but it’s all he has to offer. He’s filled with turmoil and heartache and regrets, but for two hours every Wednesday all he feels is me. How much I desire him, how desperate he makes me, how much I’d like things to be different between us. Real.

He used to be my best friend back before he got married. And now? Now, he’s a young widower. It’d be wrong on so many levels to expect something more from him. So I give him what he needs. Dark delicious fucking. But I know I can’t keep this up. I’ve already given him my body, my soul. I want him to have my heart. It might drive him away forever, but that’s a risk I’m forced to take.

Wednesday is an angsty romp told from dual points of view. If you’re in the mood for something quick and dirty, you’ve found it. Proceed at your own risk.

My Review:
A short, fun, sexy read that will leave you begging for more.

Kendall Ryan is fast becoming a must-read author for me. When I read an ARC of her latest book, a sample of this book was in the back and I wanted to get my hands on a copy asap, because the premise was SO intriguing. I was, therefore, delighted when the opportunity arose to read this in advance of publication.

It didn’t disappoint. Shaw has suffered the loss of his new wife and he is leaning heavily on his former BFF Chloe for support. It just so happens that that support takes the form of, ahem, “hard-core fucking.” This has been going on for months, and while Chloe initially felt guilty now she’s feeling a maelstrom of different emotions. She’s been in love with Shaw for years and he’s the first guy to set her bed (and her world) on fire so she is reluctant to end their arrangement. But all the sneaking around on Wednesdays and the way he keeps cutting her out is starting to wear her down. Then his actions escalate, becoming confusing and hurtful. It’s not intentional – it’s just that Shaw is a bit of a mess.

Now, initially, I was thinking that Shaw was a right selfish bastard. Yes, he was grieving but it was still no way to treat his childhood friend. There were times where I wish Chloe had pushed him away – she did, eventually, and I was glad that she developed some self-respect and some backbone.

The sex scenes were well written and smoking hot. I liked how their relationship progressed toward the end and it was much more romantic.

There are a couple of moral-dilemma-type issues/situations in this book that make you think (or at least it made me think) and I like when a book is more than just the sum of the expected exterior.

This book was very well written, and it flows smoothly. The characters and plot are as developed as you can get with a novella. Signature Kendall Ryan. A superb choice if you are in the mood for an emotional friends-to-lovers with-a- twist quick read.

Thanks to the author and Inkslinger PR for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Series: Romancing the Clarksons #1

When rescue looks like a whole lot of trouble . . .

The road trip was definitely a bad idea. Having already flambéed her culinary career beyond recognition, Rita Clarkson is now stranded in God-Knows-Where, New Mexico, with a busted-ass car and her three temperamental siblings, who she hasn’t seen in years. When rescue shows up—six-feet-plus of hot, charming sex on a motorcycle—Rita’s pretty certain she’s gone from the frying pan right into the fire . . .

Jasper Ellis has a bad boy reputation in this town, and he loathes it. The moment he sees Rita, though, Jasper knows he’s about to be sorely tempted. There’s something real between them. Something raw. And Jasper has only a few days to show Rita that he isn’t just for tonight—he’s forever.

My Review:
Rita has to choose between her head and her heart in this funny, heart-warming tale of finding true love and happiness.

This series has a great premise, and once I read the description, I just knew I had to read this book.

The Clarksons are a mad, eclectic mix of personalities, and I can’t wait to read more of this series to find out what’s in store for the rest of Rita’s siblings. All of them were unique in their own way, and it was refreshing to read about such different characters. Characterization was superb.

All of them are suffering severe emotional baggage, and they are at a crossroads in their lives. They are attempting to rebuild their relationships after the passing of their mom. Their mom was this larger-than-life somewhat-celebrity chef. Rita was her nominated heir and she is in charge of her mom’s restaurant, but she is miserable as sin, and crumbling under the pressure of delivering to the same high standards as her belated mother. She manages to convince her siblings to go on a trip – it was their mom’s last wish- and they hit the road.

Jasper enters the picture when their car breaks down just outside his village. He finds himself instantly attracted to Rita and wants the opportunity to get to know her. He is battling his own demons, which force him to pull back from Rita when he doesn’t actually want to. Consequently, he is sending out all kinds of mixed signals that are confusing Rita. There is a fair amount of angst and back and forth, so you have been warned!

The main focus of the book is the developing relationship between Rita and Jasper and how they both come to terms with the issues they are hiding. While, on the surface, they appear to be in similar situations, they are being drawn in opposite directions. Can they make it work to build a life together?

This book is chock-full of witty banter and hysterically funny scenes and there are plenty of sizzling sexy times, too.

I enjoyed the writing, the setting, and the pacing was bang-on.

The only thing I didn’t like was how this all took place in three days. I had to suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy the story, because, in reality, Rita would have to be cray-cray to make the decision she did after only three days.

Overall, though, this was a great read, and I look forward to continuing the series.

Thanks to the publisher and publicist for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Excerpt:
“Believe this, Rita. I think you’re gorgeous as sin and I need your mouth on mine.”
Rita nodded, meshing their wet lips together in the process. “I want to believe that. You might have to help me.”
“Thank Christ.”
Their mouths slanted and somehow—somehow—that feast of lips and tongue and teeth was even more potent than the night before. His knee rammed into the bike—almost as if his leg had tried to buckle—shooting pain up his right thigh, but it vanished under the pleasure. Vanished into vapor. The stroking, hot, abandon of Rita. They were both breathing through their noses so as not to break the voracious mouth-fucking they were engaging in, and that shouldn’t have been so all-out sexy. But it sure as shit was. They were attacking each other with seeking tongues and open lips, playing chicken to see who would give in first.
When her hands slipped under his shirt and pulled down on his belt buckle, putting pressure on Jasper’s cock, he cursed into her mouth, securing his fist in her hair like a goddamn barbarian. And she liked it, too. Why else would she be tugging on his belt, encouraging him to rock into the notch of her pussy? Too far. This was going too far. Any farther and they’d end up somewhere naked.
She’d leave the encounter with no doubt of his experience, because, hell, Jasper knew every button to press, when to change rhythm, when to be forceful or pull back. Knew it all. But Rita wouldn’t look at him the same way afterward. She’d see the local tramp, like everyone else.
She’d leave. And he’d have failed in his one attempt to be more to someone.
Jasper tore his mouth free, releasing a gruff exhale into her neck. “You have me ready to bust in my jeans, beautiful. I was smoother than this in high school.”
“That’s a scary thought,” she breathed out in a rush, her fists still curling in his shirt. “Was that the other half of your apology for last night? B-because I have to say, it was pretty effective.”
“At the risk of sounding arrogant, Rita, I haven’t even moved my hips yet. You’ve barely gotten a preview of how thoroughly I can…apologize.”
“Don’t leave me in suspense,” she whispered, those golden-brown eyes going as big as salad plates.
Don’t do it. You’ll have a hard-on for a decade. “If you agree to go out with me tonight, I’ll rub that wet, aching seam of yours with my own ache.”
Rita’s head fell back on a whimper. “Fine. Yes.”

My Review:
Wow, what a sensational read! I am still reeling from my sojourn in Sheridan Hall!

Jessica Calla has expertly crafted a heart-wrenching angst-filled love story that will rip you apart and then piece you back together again! I had all the feels reading this one. I love when an author delves deep into the emotional psyche of her characters and strips them raw, so we see them bare, with all their strengths and weaknesses on show (that sounds unintentionally naughty. Lol.) Jessica does this effortlessly with the first book in her Sheridan Hall series.

Juliet (Jules) has been living in the shadow of her dead twin since she passed. She blames herself for her death and she has struggled to move on in her life. Her relationship with her parents is troubled, and she has come to rely heavily on her best friend, Ben. She has even followed him to college, as she is focused on convincing him that he loves her as much as she loves him. A chance encounter with Chase changes the path of her destiny.

Chase has his own demons to battle. Both his parents died when he was young, and he was raised by his loving grandmother. But he went down the wrong path and now he is desperately trying to get his life back on track. The minute he spots Juliet, all his best-laid plans fall out the window. There is an instant attraction between them, but when he realizes who she is, and that she’s in love with his new roommate, he tries to do the honourable thing by backing off.

But the attraction between Jules and Chase is too hard to deny, and soon they are indulging in steamy make-out sessions.

There is a love triangle in this book, but I love me some love-triangle, so I lapped it right up. And boy, is it an angst-ridden ride as Juliet and Chase battle their feelings for one another and try to avoid hurting Ben.

The romance was very well-written and the chemistry between our couple very believable.

One of the best things about this book, beside the well-developed emotionally complex mains, are the fantastic secondary characters. A lively bunch, they have formed their own little family community in Sheridan Hall, and I LOVED that aspect of this book. It really made it stand out from other NA/college stories I’ve read. I came to care about all of them.

The other thing I really loved was the fact that Jules was a ballet dancer and Chase an artist. I was both in my younger years and it resonated with me. It also appeals to my creative side in general. I like that they both supported each other with their passion.

I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style, and Ms. Calla writes like a seasoned professional. It’s hard to believe this is only her second published work. The pacing was perfect, and it flowed from beat to beat, and scene to scene, with ease. I didn’t skim a single part as it was all relevant and not bogged down in unnecessary details.

There is a sub-plot that comes out toward the end of the book that I didn’t see coming. I actually think that could have been interwoven a little better from the point we were first introduced to that character, as I felt it added an extra dimension to the story. A little fleshing out would have embellished this plotline; however, it didn’t in any way dent my enjoyment of this book, because, as you can probably tell, I loved it!

There is also a slight paranormal twist to the story that I wasn’t expecting. It reminded me a little, in that regard, of Thicker Than Water by Brigid Kemmerer. I liked it, thought it was quirky and interesting.

The toing and froing between our pair became a little irritating in the last quarter of the book. I also disliked the fact that Juliet was slow to make up her mind. The only other thing that grated on my nerves was how Ben initially described Juliet to Chase. He was quite patronizing and dismissive of her and I expected more from him as her best friend. I wished I could reach into my Kindle and slap him on her behalf. Lol. These points are the only reason I knocked off half a star.

Overall, this is a fantastic start to what promises to be a great new NA series. I highly recommend it to fans of the NA genre and well written emotionally-charged romance. I look forward to continuing the series.

Actual Rating 4.5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a riveting new story about friendship, survival, and finding your voice.

For some people, silence is a weapon.

For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield.

Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.

Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

Excerpt:
The expression on her face said he gave great full frontal, and when he laughed, her pink lips split into a wide smile. Her smile transformed her from pretty to beautiful, but my attention swung away from her as tiny hairs rose all over my body. That laugh…it was deep, rich and somehow familiar. A shiver crept over my shoulders. That laugh…
He was walking backward, and I was rather amazed that he didn’t trip over anything, actually somewhat envious of that fact. And then I realized he was heading toward the last half circle. Toward me. I glanced around. There were only a few seats open, two on my left. The girl was following him. Not just following him. Touching him.
Touching him like she’d done it a lot.
Her slim arm was extended, her hand planted in the center of his stomach, just below his chest. She bit down on her lower lip as her hand drifted farther south. Golden bangles dangling from her wrist got awful close to the worn leather belt. My cheeks heated as the boy stepped out of her reach. There was something playful about his movements, as if this dance was a daily routine for them both.
He turned at the end of the desks, stepping behind the occupied chair, and my gaze tracked up narrow hips, over the stomach the girl had touched, up and up, and then I saw his face.
I stopped breathing.
My brain couldn’t perceive what I was seeing. It did not compute. I stared up at him, really saw him, saw a face that was familiar yet new to me, more mature than I remembered but still achingly beautiful. I knew him. Oh my God, I would know him anywhere, even if it had been four years and the last time I’d seen him, that last night that had been so horrible, had changed my life forever.
It was too surreal.
Now the reason why he’d popped in my head this morning made sense, because I’d seen him, but hadn’t realized it was him.
I couldn’t move, couldn’t get enough air into my lungs and couldn’t believe this was happening. My hands slipped off the desk, falling limply into my lap as he dipped into the seat next to me. His gaze was on the girl who took the seat next to him, and his profile, the strong jaw that had only been hinted at the last time I’d seen him, tilted as his eyes moved over the front of the room, across the wall-length chalkboard. He looked like he had back then, but bigger and with everything more…more defined. From the eyebrows darker than the mix of brown and black hair and thick lashes to the broad cheekbones and the slight scruff covering the curve of his jaw.
Goodness, he’d grown up in the way I’d thought he would when I was twelve and started to really look at him, to see him as a boy.
I couldn’t believe he was here. My heart was trying to claw itself out of my chest as lips—lips fuller that I remembered—tilted up, and a knot formed in my belly as the dimple formed in his right cheek. The only dimple he had. No matching set. Just one. My mind raced back through the years, and I could only think of a handful of times I’d seen him relaxed. Leaning back in the chair that seemed too small for him, he slowly turned his head toward me. Eyes that were brown with tiny flecks of gold met mine.
Eyes I’d never forgotten.
The easy, almost lazy smile I’d never seen on his face before froze. His lips parted and a paleness seeped under his tawny skin. Those eyes widened, the gold flecks seeming to expand. He recognized me; I had changed a lot since then, but still, recognition dawned in his features. He was moving again, leaning forward on his seat toward me. Four words roared out of the past and echoed in my head.
Don’t make a sound.
“Mouse?” he breathed.

My Review:
Wow! What an amazing read.

Having read a couple of books in the Burke Brothers series, I was really looking forward to reading this book as I’ve always enjoyed Leila as a character. This book definitely lived up to my expectation and some!

It had everything I could ask for in a quick read:

*A hot man to swoon over – Jase is perfect leading man material.
*A sassy, snarky, independent leading lady – Leila can easily hold her own with her over-protective brothers and their respective partners.
*A family and friends theme – love how they all look out for each other, even if her brothers are more than a tad OTT when it comes to her sex life!
*Steamy romance – this book delivers in spades.
*Rockstar world – love Dirty B. and the world that Emma has created. Rocker romances are some of my fav to read and the Burke Brothers series is one of the best rocker series. This book is a superb addition (though it can completely be read as a standalone.)
*Hysterically funny moments, comedic scenes and plenty of witty banter that flowed so naturally.
*Great, consistent pacing.
*Fabulous writing.
*Well-developed characters.

I could gush all day but I think you get the gist. The only slight thing that irritated me was how Jase didn’t apparently recognize Leila at first. Then, later on, he talks about how she left an indelible mark on his heart, and it didn’t stack up with his initial reaction. Even later on, when they are discussing their reactions upon meeting again, he gave the impression that he knew straight away who she was but the scene wasn’t written like that. Only minor, but it bugged me.

Overall, though, this was a fantabulous read, and one I would highly recommend. Thanks to the publisher and publicist for providing a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Excerpt:
“Hey, Jase?” I look up and down the hall through my eyelashes.
“Yeah?”
My tongue runs over my bottom lip. “You could come in. If you wanted.”
He exhales loudly, running his hand through his hair. “Leila… You’ve been drinking. Whether you say you’re drunk or not, this is your tequila talking.”
“What if it isn’t?”
“How do I know you’re not just saying it?”
“Never mind.” My stomach sinks. “I can take a hint.”
“A hint? I’m a man, love. I don’t give or take hints.” He walks toward me. “But I also respect you and I’m not going to go into your room and fuck you because numerous shots of tequila are telling you it’s a good idea.”
“Don’t worry.” My cheeks burn with humiliation. I’m blaming this on the tequila. He’s so insistent it is, so fuck you, tequila. Fuck you.
“Leila.” He grabs my arm before I can disappear fully inside.
I slowly turn my face back to him. The bright hall lights collide with the darkness of my room, casting shadows across the angular planes of his face. His eyes blaze at me, a bright yet stormy green that shows his inner battle.
“Don’t think I’m not coming in with you because I don’t want to fuck you.” He takes a deep breath and lets it out quietly.
I swallow.
“I want to fuck you again. I want to follow you into this room and fuck you so hard everyone on this floor will know what we’re doing.”
“So do it,” I whisper. “I’m not drunk, Jase. I know exactly what I’m asking.”
“You’re supposed to be avoiding me.” He leans in so his mouth hovers just above mine. “Remember?”
“It didn’t work out.” My mouth gets dry as his breath fans across my lips.
“So, pursuing me is your new plan?”
“Well.” I pause to swallow again, although there’s nothing but the hesitant lump in my throat that won’t go down. “I figure it’s the more enjoyable option.”
His lips twitch up on one side, and he laughs quietly. “Leila, love…”
I grab the front of his shirt, gripping it tight, and pull him down to me at the same time that I push up onto my toes. Our lips collide somewhere between us, and he freezes. His fingers twitch around my arm, but he lets go.
I get it.
I step back from him, my heart thudding and pushing the previous twinge of humiliation around my body until it latches on to every cell and swamps me. My cheeks burn, and I can’t look up at him, so I move back into my room, throwing my book in the direction of the bed.
He grabs me.
Shoves me inside.
Pushes me back against the door so it slams shut.
And kisses me.
Desire blurs my embarrassment as Jase’s mouth descends onto mine and he kisses me as though he’s starving. I wind my hands into his hair as he runs one of his up my thigh. His fingers ease under my dress, coming dangerously close to the top of my leg, and I gasp as he lifts it and hooks it over his hip.
Fuck me, he’s hard.
His cock presses between my legs, against my throbbing clit, and the pressure from his jeans sends a bolt of uncontrollable desire firing through my bloodstream.
He groans, swiping his tongue across the seam of my mouth, and I open for him, sending my tongue to meet his. They battle when he kisses me deeply and grips my ass harder, lifting me up the door a little. My hips buck against him, and he nips my bottom lip when I whimper.
Then he brings one hand between my legs and runs his thumb over the soft cotton of my panties.
Right over my clit.
Right along my pussy.
Now, my gasp is loud, and I break the kiss to control my breathing. Jase smiles against my jaw as he kisses it. His mouth leaves trails of hot kisses along it and my neck, his tongue swirling on my pulse point, his teeth grazing down my skin to my shoulder.
And, the whole time, his fingers are working their way beneath my underwear.
The moment his rough thumb brushes my clit, his lips find mine again, and he swallows my moan.

Norma Anders has always prided herself on her intelligence and determination. She climbed out of poverty, put herself through school and is now a chief financial advisor at Pierce Industries. She’s certainly a woman who won’t be topped. Not in business anyway.

But she’s pretty sure she’d like to be topped in the bedroom.

Unfortunately most men see independence and ambition in a woman and they run. Even her dominant boss, Hudson Pierce has turned down her advances, leaving her to fear that she will never find the lover she’s longing for.

Then the most unlikely candidate steps up. Boyd, her much-too-young and oh-so-hot assistant surprises her one night with bold suggestions and an authoritative demeanor he’s never shown her in the office.

It’s a bad idea…such a deliciously bad idea…but when Boyd takes the reins and leads her to sensual bliss she’s never known, the headstrong Norma can’t help but fall under his command.

FALLING UNDER YOU - Available Now

My Review:
Learning how to let go…

Norma has been in control of every aspect of her life for as long as she can remember. When her parents died, she took on the parental role to her two siblings, Gwen, and Ben. It’s been far from plain sailing but she has dedicated a huge chunk of her life to taking care of others. Very career-orientated, she has risen through the ranks to become Hudson Pierce’s trusted No. 2.

Feeling somewhat unfulfilled, she decides to indulge her lengthy crush on her boss, and she makes a pass at him, which he rejects. She is up on the roof, trying to deal with the burning humiliation when her assistant Boyd finds her and makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

Boyd and Norma’s professional relationship is superb and they both highly respect the other. Now, things are about to get personal and the roles are reversing. Norma has to allow Boyd to take the reins in their personal relationship while she abides by his rules and his commands. It is difficult for someone like Norma to fully let go and let someone else take charge. But she needs it, and she deserves it. After years of looking after others, it’s time for someone to look after her.

Boyd was a sweetheart even though he was a sexual deviant who loved pushing both their boundaries. I only wish we had been given more opportunity to fully understand him in his own right. He was quite mysterious and I would have enjoyed delving into his backstory in order to properly understand what drew him to Norma.

Their developing relationship was a mix of romance and sex and it was very well written. The struggle for control was an ongoing battle but one they overcame in the end.

I’ve worked in the corporate world for years and I have to admit to being quite skeptical at the start about their relationship. I found it difficult to fully accept that such a career-driven woman with control issues would so readily drop her panties for her assistant, but, hey, it’s fiction, so I just let those concerns wash over me and enjoy the story for what it is. A sort of sexual coming of age story that turned into a sweet, caring relationship that evolved into a blissful forever.

I really liked Norma, and having read the Fixed and Found trilogies, I was intrigued to know her story. She has always come across as a bit strict and too serious, so it was nice to get under the hood and find out what made her tick. I could relate to her work ethic, and her like of control in the workplace, and her strong desire to take care of others. It was nice to see her taking a backseat and letting Boyd set the pace in their relationship. I also enjoyed how she stood up to Hudson at the end and was prepared to sacrifice everything for her lover.

I think this would have worked better if it had been a full-length novel, as I felt it skimmed too much, and we never really got to see how their relationship developed. We were told rather than show and that was a little disappointing. The ending was very rushed, and I didn’t like the epilogue – I felt very disconnected from the future we were presented with. Again, if the story had been fleshed out better then this wouldn’t have been such a stretch.

Overall, though, this was a great short read, and a good addition to the series. While it isn’t essential to have read either the Fixed or Found series, I would recommend it as both are excellent series! I would recommend this to fans of Laurelin Paige or those who want a well-written quick read.

FALLING UNDER YOU - Tour Teaser 1

Excerpt:

I groaned and threw the covers off of me, heading for the shower. Usually I ran first, and I still planned to, but I needed something to cool the fire in my veins. Hopefully standing under an ice cold stream of water would do the trick.
It didn’t.
I tried running next, opting for ten miles instead of my normal six, thinking maybe I could sweat out the lust like it was a cold. Or was that a fever? Whatever, I came back tired, achy and soaked in perspiration, and the buzz between my legs was stronger than ever.
I was distracted by it through the rest of the morning. Gwen and I caught up on America’s Got Talent before she planned to go to bed for the day—her job at a nightclub kept her on a strange schedule. Afterward, I couldn’t remember a single thing I’d watched, but I could recall with clarity every moment I’d spent with Boyd the night before. That wasn’t a subject I planned on discussing with Gwen, though. So most of my responses to her were nods and grunts. Then she’d gone to sleep, thankfully, except after that I was left alone with the agony of my desire.
The rest of the night was more of the same, and Sunday as well. By Monday morning, I’d run over twenty miles, cleaned my entire house, taken five showers, and not thought about Boyd Barrett about a thousand times. Maybe even two thousand times. And now I had to go to work and face him.
Help me God.
I decided to go in early. That way I could sneak into my office without having to pass him on the way in. It wasn’t until I was in the elevator on my way to my floor that I remembered I also didn’t want to see Hudson. Several years with a clean, respectable work record, and in one evening I’d shattered my reputation with not one, but two, colleagues. The two colleagues who were the most important to me, no less.
Jesus, maybe I did need to quit.
It wasn’t yet seven, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Hudson were already working. Often, he slept in the loft above his office, which made an early appearance more probable than one from Boyd. Anxiety rose in my chest, an odd feeling for me since I was usually composed and calm. As soon as the doors opened, I ducked my head and scurried down the hallway, letting out a sigh of relief when I made it past Hudson’s office without seeing him.
And then gasping sharply when I ran into him, instead, outside my own office.
“Norma, I was hoping you’d be here early. I wondered if I could have a few minutes of your time.”

Praise for THE PROBLEM WITH FOREVER:

“The intensity between Mouse and Rider is palpably sizzling… romance aficionados [will] lose themselves in Mouse and Rider’s smoldering glances and steamy kisses.” -Kirkus

“Armentrout’s effort to gradually coax her protagonist from her shell via a supportive, loving community succeeds, and readers looking for an inspirational comeback story will find Mallory’s to be satisfying and hopeful” –Publishers Weekly

My Review:
Initial Thoughts: Unbelievably brilliant. I’m pretty speechless right now.

Full Review:

It’s no secret that I’m a massive fan of Jennifer’s work, and I devour everything she writes the minute it’s released. Well, The Problem with Forever elevates my admiration to a whole new level of awesomeness. I am completely blown away after reading this book. So much so that it’s taken me a few days to gather my thoughts into some kind of logical order. Without a doubt, this is one of the best books Jennifer has written (and I don’t admit that lightly.)

One of the things I loved the most was the refreshingly different characters. Both Rider and Mallory were complex characters with plenty of strengths and weaknesses. Character development was steady and well balanced as we gradually got to peel back the layers to understand exactly what had happened to them in childhood and how that had shaped the people they were today.

Mallory struggles to articulate herself because of her past. It is not shyness; it is a protective mechanism that has become a habit. She understands that she needs to stretch out of her comfort zone because she wants to have the type of future that once seemed impossible. What she didn’t expect was to bump into Rider again after a four-year separation.

The moment they rediscovered one another was electrifying. Honestly, I think my heart damn near stopped in my chest. I felt the raw emotion as if I was living the scene myself. And from the minute Rider came back into her life, he became her protector again, and I swooned along with Mouse.

Oh, Rider! (I’ll talk about him in a bit.)

Mallory suffers intense anxiety as she attempts to overcome her fears and the obstacles holding her back. There were plenty of scenes where she couldn’t speak and I felt her anguish, her self-loathing, her frustration. It was downright cringing at times, and if this was a movie I would have had my eyes squeezed shut and my head in my hands. I felt all the feels while reading this book and in my opinion Jennifer NAILED the emotional complexity perfectly. I’ve suffered panic attacks and anxiety in the past and the way it was described was exactly my experience of it. Seriously well done for that.

Rider. Oh, Rider. How on earth am I going to find a place on my already-crowded book boyfriend list for you? I don’t know how I’ll manage it, but there is no way you are being left out. Rider is Mallory’s perpetual savior and he resumes that role the minute they become reacquainted. I felt this gave him the sense of purpose he was lacking and it made him feel better about himself. Because on the inside he’s destroyed; a total mess thanks to the horrific upbringing he endured. But he won’t even admit that to himself, and my heart bled for him the entire way through this book. He put her needs before his own time and time again, and while she was capable of standing up for herself in the end-and she needed him to step away to let her do that-I couldn’t fault his loyalty and commitment to her. It was so obvious he was completely in love with her before he ever admitted it.

I loved how Mallory matured and progressed during this book, and how it was a realistic gradual progression. I especially loved how she took charge toward the end and forced Rider into confronting his demons. It showed strength, bravery and above all, love.

I didn’t like how Mallory’s foster dad treated Rider and it was so unfair given their past.

The chemistry between our couple was scorching hot, though nothing much happened until the second half of the book. But I really felt the intensity of the attraction and the bond between them.

While I most definitely swooned over Rider, I didn’t think he treated Paige right. I didn’t like Paige, and she was cruel and hurtful to Mouse, but I could understand where she was coming from. It was a messy situation.

I totally predicted the speech at the end and how that would all pan out, but I still lapped it up. God, it was so emotional to read! I had tears in my eyes. It was genuinely brilliant.

I liked all the secondary characters and they were well-developed too.

My only complaint is that the inner monologue became a little repetitive toward the end, and I felt some of it could have been cut. However, it in no way dented my enjoyment, because this was still an amazingly perfect read. I stayed up until 4am the first night, and 2am the second night, and I only do that with books that I truly adore. I only put it down the first night because I literally couldn’t keep my eyes open and the words were blurring.

In summary, this is a superbly written tearjerker filled with plenty of raw emotion and tons of swoon-worthy moments that will leave you breathless and speechless. Another truly incredible read from an author who can do no wrong in my book.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Jennifer’s publicist in exchange for my honest review.

He’ll break her three-date rule or go down in flames trying…

Firefighter Jackson Hart is back in Brooklyn and on the hunt for the girl who’s kept him burning for ten long years. The girl he left, in a total prick move, without saying goodbye. Now he’s determined to make it right, to hell with her three-date rule.

But Becca’s not ready to forgive and forget. In fact, she seems determined to stoke his fire every chance she gets. She wants to avoid sexy distractions like him? Fine. Because what she doesn’t know—yet—is that Jax isn’t the kind of man to give up when he wants something. And he always gets what he wants.

My Review:
Dangerously sexy and seductive. I adored this book from the first word to the last. I love it when a book ticks every box and this one delivered in spades:

*Sublime writing
*Consistent fast pace
*Well developed characters
*Witty, sexy banter
*Plenty of scorching hot love scenes
*A man in uniform
*A fiesty female lead
*Nicely progressed plot

This flowed really smoothly and there were no superfluous scenes and no tendency to skim.

Jax/Jackson was a perfect leading man. He could come across as a tad bit arrogant at times, but it was all in good humor, and he wasn’t afraid to poke fun at himself. Becca was a wee bit mean at the start, but it was hysterical to read. I actually had my hand over my eyes during the radio bit in the fire station. I cringed with Jax. I loved that he knew what he wanted (her) and how he wasn’t afraid to go for it, even though she was quite callous and she kept throwing him out. His confidence was very endearing.

I loved that Becca was no pushover, and how she tried to deny her feelings, but that man was way too hard to resist.

They are perfect together, and I loved reading their story.

In summary, this was a superb read and one I highly recommend.

In a sensual, emotionally charged novel of love and loss, a tender affair gives two daring storm chasers the strength to overcome shattered dreams and the courage to build a future together.

Drew McGovern is living for two. Her fiancé, Colby, used to savor the feeling of a powerful gale, the rain pelting his face as the sky grew dark—until a shocking tragedy struck him down. Drew’s still grieving his death a year later when she bumps into some of his old storm chasing buddies. For reasons she can’t explain, she volunteers for the next tornado. But when she reconnects with Colby’s best friend, Aiden O’Neal, Drew gets a breath of fresh air that stirs the ashes of her broken heart.

Aiden doesn’t trust himself around Drew. He’s wanted this girl for a long time—long enough to remember the stab of jealousy he felt the first time he saw her in Colby’s arms, long enough to remember the tears that fell as they buried the man they each still miss. Now he’s trying his best to behave himself. But when the wind ruffles Drew’s hair and puts a sparkle in her eye, Aiden can’t resist the urge to hold her close. And when it comes to true love, he’s holding out hope that lightning strikes twice.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My Review:
Dangerously sexy and addictive. I absolutely adored everything about this book, and I can’t find fault with a single thing.

Drew has been trying to get on with her life in the aftermath of the devastating death of her fiance. She is feeling antsy, and that she needs to get out of small-town Lipton for a while. A chance encounter with Murph, her fiance’s storm-chasing crew-leader sets her on a new path. Throwing caution to the wind (excuse the cheesy pun) she decides to join them for one month which turns out to be the experience of a lifetime.

Aiden was Colt’s best bud and he always felt guilty that he harbored a secret crush on Drew. Now that temptation is on his doorstep, he is doing everything in his power to ignore the growing attraction between them. But you know what they say about best-laid plans and all!

The romance was sizzling hot between the pair and they are so good together. Their chemistry zinged off the pages of my Kindle. And I loved it!

I adored the setting for this book and it very much reminded me of the movie Twister. It was exciting, thrilling and gripping, and informative without bogging the reader down in unnecessary detail.

Both mains were well developed with decent complexity, and I really connected with them and became invested in their journey to coupledom.

The other characters were an interesting mix though we didn’t find out too much about them.

The writing was great and the pacing was consistent. I had a hard time putting this one down as I just wanted to keep on reading.

In summary, this was a superb read with a good blend of adventure and romance. This will appeal to fans of well-written contemporary women’s fiction with strong emotional and plot development.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Netgally, in exchange for my honest review.
