Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

My Review:
No one does romantic comedy quite like Rachel Van Dyken, and this was another hugely entertaining read that I had a very hard time putting down. Rachel doesn’t fail to deliver, every time, cementing her status as one of my fav authors.

Lucas was engaged to Avery’s sister but due to events the night before the wedding everything is canceled and he’s branded a cheater. Fast forward a few years and he’s the ultimate man-whore with a shagging schedule for every day of the week (except Sunday which he reserves for his family.) Honestly, I found it very difficult to like him at the start even though I was chuckling to myself at the ridiculous (but believable) set-up he had going on. However, by the end of this book I had fallen in love with him along with Avery and that is true author skill.

Avery has grown up with Lucas. He was going out with her sister from the time they were teens and he was the big brother she never had. Until she turned seventeen and her feelings changed. Then all hell broke loose before the wedding and she hasn’t seen him since. Cue the current day and she’s in a bit of a pickle and she ends up working as his assistant. Abuse is hurled, sparks fly, and, gradually, bit by bit they start falling for one another.

Although I started out not liking Lucas his character most certainly grew on me. Avery is a very funny character and some of the scenes had me laughing hysterically with tears rolling down my face. When they finally get it on, it’s very steamy and those scenes were so well written.

The plot’s a little predictable in parts but in the main the story is well told and it flows perfectly.

If you enjoy romantic comedy or you’re already a fan of the wonderful Ms. Van Dyken then you’ll love this book. I’m so looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My Review:
Another amazing book in this enchanting series. I honestly can’t get enough of Vee and her pony boys. Lisa has executed the perfect balance, moving the plot along at a steady, consistent pace while also giving the right amount of focus to development of the relationships. Plenty of heart-pounding moments and sexy times. Love, loved it. I never want this series to end. I’m completely addicted. One of the best reverse harem series out there right now, in my opinion.

From the author who brought you the Chastity Falls series, comes the second book in the Wicked Bay series…

Lo Stone should be used to change by now. It’s been her life for the last year, but how much can a girl take before the cracks begin to show? She knew being with Maverick wouldn’t be easy, but she didn’t anticipate her life in Wicked Bay becoming a game of deceit and lies.

Maverick Prince risked everything for Lo, but it was worth it to see her smile. Only now he’s painted a target on her back and he refuses to let that happen. The only way to protect her is to do what Prince’s do best—play the game and stick to the rules.

Even if some rules are made to be broken.

My Review:
Wicked Rules is the much-anticipated second installment in the Wicked Bay series by L.A. Cotton and one I couldn’t wait to get my hands on. I’m pleased to report that Lianne doesn’t disappoint, and it was a superb addition to what is already a very engrossing series. Prepare to swoon, laugh, cry, feel blood-boiling rage, gasp in shock, and cling to precious hope as you devour the pages.

I read this book in less than twenty-four hours and it sucked me in from the first beautiful word until the last suspense-filled one.

Maverick and Lo are finally a couple but thanks to a plethora of enemies, they are forced to keep their love a secret, and the burden starts to take a toll. There is no denying the chemistry and the love between these two, and I loved all the romantic and sexy times, and there were plenty of them to sate my appetite.

The second half of this book cranked the angst-ometer sky high and I was literally chewing on my nails reading it. I wanted to transport myself into my Kindle and throttle a few people, and I was on the edge of my seat as I gobbled up the pages. Some battles are won, but fresh ones loom in the horizon and I can’t wait to see where Lianne takes the story next. Roll on March!

In summary, Wicked Rules satisfied my angst-loving, drama-loving heart to the max. I absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait for the next installment in this well-written series. If you are a fan of addictive, edgy YA/NA crossover romance, you will LOVE this book and this series. Highly recommended.

Review: Dare to Breathe by S.B. Alexander

Today I am reviewing Dare to Breathe by S.B. Alexander! It’s the latest book in her Maxwell series.

Title: Dare to Breathe

Series: Maxwell #6
Rating: 5 stars
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Eternal love is worth waiting for.

Since Lacey Robinson trekked off to college four years ago, Kade Maxwell has worried non-stop that her blackouts and panic attacks would destroy her independence. But with her graduation on the horizon, he begins to relax, knowing she’ll soon be back in his arms. He’s excited to do the one thing he’s been longing to do—propose. But when he surprises her the day before graduation, he may be walking away instead.

Lacey was practically born with a baseball in one hand and a mitt on the other. The only time she hasn’t played was after the death of her mom and sister. The uphill climb to get back to pitching was painful, and if it weren’t for Kade, she might not have made it. Now, a major league team is interested in her, but she knows that her sexy bad boy wants to get married.

Fate is throwing curveballs at Kade and Lacey. Will they be brave enough to swing for love’s homerun?

This is the final installment of Kade and Lacey’s story. It’s highly recommended that Dare to Kiss and Dare to Dream be read before reading Dare to Breathe.

Intended for audiences 18+ Strong language and sexual content.

My Review:
The Maxwell series is one of my all-time fave series, and while I’ve enjoyed all the boys’ books, I have a special place in my heart for Kade Maxwell because he was the first Maxwell I fell in love with, and the man who most deserved a happy ever after.

Lacey and Kade have already been through their fair share of ups and downs, but fate hasn’t finished with them yet. They are dealt a number of curveballs in this book, and there are moments when you wonder if they will make it through.

One of the things I especially loved is how much of a solid team they are. The love between them just oozes off the pages and it was just so perfect and so swoony. Kade is still fiercely protective of Lacey but she is there for him when he most needs her, and it warmed my heart.

I loved seeing snippets of the other couples, the kids, and the parents, and I loved how beautifully Susan wrapped it up at the end. I’m so sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I’m really looking forward to the new series featuring Dillon Hart, and I can’t wait to see what else Susan has in store for us.

I ADORED this beautiful ending to Kade and Lacey’s love story, and if you are a fan of this series you won’t be disappointed. Simply stunning. An absolute must-read. And if you haven’t sampled this series yet – why the heck not? If you enjoy well-written new adult romance with well-developed characters, sizzling hot chemistry, and twisty plots, then this is the series for you!

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author which I am voluntarily reviewing.

Review: Moonlight Sins (de Vincent #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Moonlight Sins
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: de Vincent #1
Rating: 5 stars
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:
New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout delivers the unforgettable story of a woman whose new life has just begun—but may end in murder . . .

Julia Hughes has always played it safe until she learned a very painful lesson. Now Julia’s starting over with a job in the Louisiana bayou—and a scorching encounter with a stranger, only to discover he’s Lucian de Vincent . . . her new employer. The de Vincent brothers share a massive fortune and a dark reputation. Julia cares for their troubled sister, but a menacing presence in the mansion—and the ever-present temptation of Lucian—prove dangerously distracting.

Lucian’s grandmother claimed de Vincent men fall in love once—and hard. Apparently, it’s Lucian’s turn. Julia’s compassionate care of his twin makes Lucian want to lay himself bare. But some secrets are better for Julia not to know.

The recent “suicide” of Lucian’s father is the latest in a string of deaths on the estate. Someone is eliminating the de Vincents. And the best way to get to Lucian may be through Julia. . . .

My Review:
I’ve been really excited for this book, and this series, since Jennifer announced details of it. Sometimes, when you’re really hyped for a book it can feel like a letdown when you finally sit down to read it, but that was definitely not the case here. Moonlight Sins was everything I was hoping it would be and now I can hardly wait for the second instalment!

Jennifer’s writing style has always appealed to me in a massive way and the writing in this book is her signature style-full of witty batter, sizzling hot chemistry, and the words flowed beautifully across the pages of my Kindle. In this book, we have the added mystery and intrigue of what exactly is going on in the de Vincent house, and, while one of the mysteries was wrapped up here, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. At times, I wasn’t sure if this was going to turn paranormal (it didn’t) but it definitely has that vibe which has only piqued my curiosity further!

Lucian is swoonworthy in the extreme, and I just loved him from the very start, even if he is rude and abrupt at times. Julia was fantastic, and a strong MC. Gabe and Devlin are equally mysterious, hot, and snarky, and I can’t wait to read their stories!

Overall, this was a fantastic read and a fabulous start to a great new series from Jennifer. Highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily reviewing same. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Genres: Contemporary Romance

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he’d left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty–and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I’m crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that’s the only reaction I can get out of you, I’ll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I’m falling for you, and I know it’s wrong. I know that I’m only supposed to be the adviser to your program and nothing more, but here’s the thing. I think you’re falling for me too.

xo, Zach

My Review:
I’m a sucker for any kind of forbidden romance and Kendall always delivers knock-out blurbs and covers that are hard to resist, so I jumped at the chance to review this book, and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read it, because it was a great, fast, fun read and one I thoroughly enjoyed!

Zach and Poppy have undeniable chemistry from the moment they meet, but she’s determined to steer clear of guys and decides to leave everything up to fate. Fate, as you would have it, is a little minx, and it isn’t long before she is calling the shots. There was plenty of push-and-pull between our couple, but it’s more of the lighthearted rather than angsty variety and it works. Poppy’s son was a welcome addition, and I loved her as a Mom. Zach was amazing with her little boy too. Throw in Zach’s obvious hotness, filthy mouth, romantic poems, and stubborn determination to win Poppy’s heart, and it’s a fab, feel-good read.

It was a little lacking in substance on the forbidden element of their romance but the blossoming connection between our pair was more of the focus so it didn’t take away too much from my enjoyment.

When you pick up a Kendall Ryan book you always know she will deliver what she promises, and xo, Zach certainly does that.

Highly recommended if you are a fan of this author or sweet’n’sexy feel-good contemporary romances.

he Four Horsemen and Vee’s story continues in book four of this reverse harem urban fantasy series.

Assassins, ancient magic, and the mysterious Collector bring new challenges to the Horsemen. Can the five find the answers they need before it’s too late?

Three humans are dead, and the search is on for the surviving member from Vee’s online group. If he’s alive, Seth could hold the key to who’s behind the attacks — and why the group are targets.

Thanks to their broken alliance with the fae, the Four Horseman and Vee must turn to others for help and are pulled deeper into the supernatural underworld. The danger the world faces is greater than they imagined and someone is determined the Horsemen will fail.

The Four Horsemen will each do whatever it takes to protect Vee, but as Vee’s relationship with the guys intensifies, so does her power. How powerful can she become and at what cost to the Four Horsemen’s future?

My Review:
Absolutely astounding. The plot is really thickening in this one, and I love how complex and intriguing the story is becoming. There are potential threats, and numerous enemies, around every corner, and even among themselves there is trust issues, seeping tension, and secrets being kept. I don’t trust Seth as far as I’d throw him, and what darkness is inside all of them, especially Vee? I loved how the relationships developed in this one, even with the flaws and potential rifts between some of the pairings. And that ending is killer (in a good way) and while I had suspected as much, it doesn’t take away from the impact. I’m already chomping at the bit for the next installment. Fantastic job, Lisa. This series is one of my fave RH series right now. Up there with Curse of the Gods by JJ in my opinion. Can’t wait for Chaos!

Xander’s reaction to these questions drives a bigger wedge between the fae and the Horsemen. His move isn’t popular with the others because right now they need fae help more than ever.

A bloody message and a series of murders lead to a search for a threat from the past. Instead, the Horsemen encounter something new and dangerous. The race is on to find out what the creatures are and how big a threat they are to an already chaotic world.

Vee discovers using her powers has a strange effect on her relationship with the Horsemen. Although this pulls her closer to the guys, the conflict between Vee and Xander continues. But is the greatest conflict within himself?

And as the Five search for answers, someone watches. What does he know? Can he help? Or does he have an agenda of his own?

Contains sex and strong language. For readers 18+.

The book is written in BRITISH ENGLISH with British spelling, grammar and idiom.

My Review:
I am totally addicted to this series now and cannot wait for the next installment. I feel bad for Joss though, he needs some love! Still not convinced about Xander but that scene at the end was smoking hot!

What happens when you discover Truth is a lie?

Ewan’s shock revelation sends Vee’s life further into chaos, and she faces an uncertain future in a secret world she never knew existed.

Vee joins the Four Horsemen’s hunt for those behind the plot to murder a fae queen, where she discovers society faces bigger dangers than she realised.

One night changes everything and increases Vee’s determination to harness her power and step into her new role.

The Four Horsemen now have their missing link and will each do anything to protect and support her, but Vee’s determined to show them she can be their equal.

The group are about to find out exactly how powerful Truth is.

My Review:
A fantastic sequel, and one that hooked me instantly. I love how Vee is adapting and reacting to her new reality; she is growing stronger and more confident, and it’s welcome character progression. And these guys! Seriously, they are unbelievably awesome and so in tune with her needs. And the chemistry and connection between them is smoking hot and it jumps off the pages. I’ve read Lisa’s contemporary romances, so I know she writes fantastic romance so I was expecting no less. I enjoyed how the romance is ramping up and I’m so glad Heath was her first. I also love Ewan and Joss but I really can’t stand Xander and I think I want to punch him more than Vee does at times. The story develops nicely in this one too and I like the intrigue and suspense. On to book 3!
